AlterIW is led by 2 employees of IW and brought MW2 with them. They then altered the game to appeal to the gaming community much more than IW and Activision originally expected. The Machinima commentator basically described AlterIW's version of Modern Warfare 2 as "Innovative and much more appealing to the gaming audiences of the PC." Right now, I only see 2 important changes AlterIW made to the game:
- Dedicated servers - This is a HUGE plus for PC gamers that couldn't connect well to a random host. It gave me a better feel for the game as it felt more like CoD4, my favorite CoD game.
- Scavenger no longer reloads tubes - As trivial as this may seem, it takes a lot of pressure off of regular gamers who just want to get kills and not get slaughtered by a brainless tuber sitting in the corner of the map.
You guys can check it out but the installation process is horrendous. You'll need a lot of prerequisites before you download the game itself and I advise you watch a tutorial video on YT first. Once you get that all fixed out, see how the game compares with regular MW2. Is it good? Is it bad? Will you support AlterIW in the future?
